Q. I thought because of the new Federal Laws that telemarketing is illegal? A. Telemarketing is, in fact, legal but with very strict regulations. We, at Peconic Bay Marketing, Inc. think that these regulations, while strict, are necessary. One of the reasons that Telemarketing has gotten such a 'bad rap' is because of dishonest Telemarketing firms taking advantage of the lack of regulation and using it to their advantage. Since theses laws where enacted, it has given more legitimacy to Telemarketing and cut down on dishonest business practices. Peconic Bay Marketing applauds these new laws. We subscribe to all of the State and Federal lists and adhere to all regulations required by the FCC. Q. Has the Do Not Call lists affected the amount of people you are allowed to call? A. Yes and No. For certain campaigns, like outbound sales, we do scrub all of our files against the Federal Lists. Again, we believe this is a good thing. We know that if a person is registered with the Federal Do Not Call list that they will NOT be open to solicitation over the phone. For the most part, people who are not registered will, to some extent, be open to solicitation over the phone. These are the leads that we would want to contact anyway. Certain calling that we do is exempt from the Do Not Call list. Surveying, Political Calling, Charitable Calling and Calling Current Customers of our clients is allowed even if the person is on the Federal List. Q. Where Do You Get Your Database Listings? A. Peconic Bay Marketing, Inc. has been purchasing and compiling databases for over a decade. We use various sources and avenues to compile our listings. We have developed a series of complex algorithms to collate the bulk listings into a complete and accurate databases. Our databases are updated weekly. Q. What areas do you have listings for? A. Peconic Bay Marketing, Inc. has, or can access, listings in any area of the Continental United States. Q. How do you "Postal Certify" your listings? A. At Peconic Bay Marketing, Inc. we pride ourselves on accuracy and believe that if the customer is happy with the return on their investment, they will become a repeat customer. We have registered with the U.S. Postal Service as a database provider and have purchased software to ensure that our listings are accurate. The result is a more accurate database and less "returned mail" for our customers. Furthermore, in certain areas of the Northeast we are not just USPS Certified, but certified in providing "WALK Sequence" databases to our customers. Q Umm, What is a "WALK Sequence" listing? A. If you where to ever follow a Postal Carrier around you would notice that they deliver to the same houses, in the same order every day. This is by design. If you were to mail a letter to your friend across town, you would have no idea at what point in the carriers "sequence" of delivery that the carrier would arrive at your friends house. So, before he delivers, the Carrier has to "sort" the mail in the order that it is delivered so that he can deliver it in a timely fashion. In a "Walk Sequence" file, Peconic Bay Marketing, Inc. already knows the order that the carrier is delivering and instead of having to sort, we just print the mail piece labels in the proper order. The result of having the pieces pre-sorted is a significant savings in postage. Q. I am interesting in doing a direct mail piece for my company but I've never done this before and I don't know what the first step is. A.
